CWP Q&A ~
What is your name?
My name is Ina Cecilia! I am a wife, mother of four on earth (and three in heaven), and I am a taco enthusiast.
Where do you work/What do you do for work?
By day, I am a librarian, managing 7 public libraries in Southern California. I love books and I love reading, but I enjoy serving others and interacting with the public. By night/naptime, I coach Catholic wives and moms through my online business and YouTube channel! In that space, I create content that encourages Catholic women in their everyday lives.
Your favorite part of your job?
In the Catholic space, I love teaching women practical skills, like cooking, shopping frugally, and dressing well within a Catholic context. I enjoy encouraging women to live out their vocations in unexpected ways, connecting with them in person and over the internet! In my job at the library, I love offering free resources to families and to anyone in need.
It's beautiful to see newborn babies get a library card, then to see retired, elderly people visiting as part of their regular routine. To know that a lot of reading happened in between is always something that makes me smile.
Favorite way to Evangelize at work?
Lately, I have really enjoyed making videos on my Youtube channel, The Little Way with Ina Cecilia! I experience great joy cooking simple meals and talking about the Lord.
I am excited to evangelize through my next project: a free webinar called "Style Like the Saints," where I teach women the "how" and "why" of dressing to glorify God (to sign up, visit https://life-with-the-saints.kit.com/saintstyle).
In my job at the Library, I love that by simply being kind and hard-working on a consistent basis, people are genuinely curious about your motivations. This opens up the door to discuss my Faith with people who have learned to trust me on the secular level, so they want to go deeper.
For example, if my staff want to know why I am able to keep a positive attitude and smile through difficult situations, I am confidently able to say that it is because I have the grace of God in all that I do and I am able to see the fruits of the Holy Spirit throughout my day!
Favorite Hobbies?
I love to cook, bake, read, hike, and sew! I also enjoy homeschooling adventures with my children. Making discoveries with them, growing alongside them, and having good conversations with them are all so rewarding.
Favorite Saint or Faith Activity?
I have many favorite saints, so it is difficult to choose one! But one saint who speaks to my heart is St. Monica. Her unwavering, consistent prayers for the conversion of her son, her husband, and her mother-in-law inspire me in my prayer life. St. Monica reminds me that we are raising saints every day-- not just in motherhood, but in every interaction.
You never know whose life you are touching and who is becoming a future saint because of you! Also, my husband is becoming Catholic this upcoming Easter, so I feel like the intercession of St. Monica cannot be ignored!
As far as my favorite faith activity is concerned, I love attending daily Mass (as much as I can) and praying the Rosary. I love how quiet and straightforward daily Mass can be. You are able to see and get to know the humblest, most faithful people who are there, day in and day out. I also appreciate the beauty of the Rosary and the many magnificent graces that come with praying it.
Once upon a time, I did not like praying "the same prayers over and over again." But when I became a mother, I just wanted the "formula." I wanted to feel like I could say the right words and God just knew my heart. I wanted to feel like I wasn't failing and the Rosary felt fool-proof in that regard. I can't recommend either activity enough!
